Texas Advanced Computing Center’s Frontera system is the most powerful supercomputer in academia in the world. We offer computing time for research and development work, artificial intelligence, machine learning, data analytics, and large-scale data storage. Researchers can bring their own code, or Texas Advanced Computing Center staff can help write programs to solve challenges. Training is also available, free of charge.

The Austin Technology Incubator (ATI) seeks highly motivated UT Austin students for exciting professional experiences working with early-stage, rapidly growing companies in our deep tech portfolio. Students may focus on sustainability or healthcare startups as well as supporting internal ATI projects. We offer both paid and unpaid positions and participation may count towards class credit, internship requirements, or volunteer hours. Graduate and undergraduate students from all majors may apply.

The Austin Technology Incubator (ATI) is the deep technology incubator of UT Austin. We nurture startups founded around scientific and engineering breakthroughs, particularly in healthcare and sustainability. For over 30 years ATI has served UT faculty, researchers, and students at many stages in their entrepreneurship journey with programs including ATI membership, NSF I-Corps, Texas Global Health Security Innovation Consortium, TEX Venture Mentoring Service, and Student Associate experiences.

Annual grant for one faculty member to explore an industry related to their area of research with the goal of discovering near-term commercialization opportunities. Over a 12-month period, the faculty member receives a $30,000+ grant to lead a team consisting of a graduate student, undergraduate researchers / market analysts, and paired with an Industry Guide to support their efforts.

The E. Craig Nemec Elevator Challenge Award is a $1,000 prize given to the presenters of the top three elevator pitches at the Texas Venture Labs Investment Competition. The award is named after Edward Craig Nemec, who began his entrepreneurial pursuits while completing his business degree at UT. Over the next 25 years, he grew it into the commercial real estate firm Pearson Group Capital Management, owners and operators of office and industrial properties.

The KS WEL Institute empowers and spotlights female-owned startups monthly through their application-based Featured Female Founders program. The Featured Female Founders program provides resources and exposure to the Austin startup community for these founders. Nine-month program for 2-3 recent graduates to discover an entrepreneurial opportunity in an industry of their choice and explore potential solutions with the goal of launching a venture. Each GY Founder receives a $15,000 stipend and $10,000 budget for travel and material expenses.

Genesis is a student-alumni partnership with over $1.8 million to distribute to student-founded companies through non-dilutive grants, along with the time and talent of our diverse and entrepreneurial leadership team. Genesis has helped founders develop their businesses, build their products, generate their first revenue, recruit cofounders and early employees, brainstorm ideas, and raise future funding from top investors. All students can apply for funding and mentorship.

The Harkey Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies is the corner of Main and Main for all undergraduate entrepreneurs at the University of Texas. We support interdisciplinary education and enriched extra-curricular experiences for students at any stage in their entrepreneurial journey.
