The Harkey Institute for Entrepreneurial Studies Living Learning Community(HIES LLC) is a first of its kind community that will admit incoming students directly into the Entrepreneurship Minor. This entrepreneurial living learning community provides students with access to entrepreneurship classes, campus housing, and the McCombs business community, a credential program that is usually reserved for admitted upperclassmen students.

The Innovation Tower is the first of its kind office building in the Innovation District, the hub for Texas life science, healthcare, research, and technology industries. With iconic architecture, efficient use of space, outdoor gathering spaces, and numerous additional amenities, the Innovation Tower is a prime location for startups or established companies seeking to be at the nexus of innovation between UT Austin and downtown Austin.

The UT System Board of Regents Rule 90101: Intellectual Property provides guidance on timely and efficient processes to manage intellectual property. These fundamental principles are intended to be adaptable to the highly varied circumstances that characterize the private sector and the portfolio of research at UT System institutions.

Texas Venture Labs works campus-wide across disciplines to transform graduate students into entrepreneurs and business leaders, take their innovations to market, and accelerate startups in our ecosystem. We do this through our Practicum course and Fellows program that provide experiential learning for grad students, our Investment Competition, and our Accelerator. The Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) is the only organization on campus authorized to manage university-owned IP (trademarks excepted). The OTC works with researchers to define the technology, assess its development stage, strategize potentially valuable patent claims, and as necessary, file patents to protect the IP in advance of publication. The OTC also supports technologies that are not patentable, such as software and copyrighted works that may be commercialized via license.

The Office of Technology Commercialization helps UT researchers monetize software and creative content they develop while at the university. The Office of Technology Commercialization can help researchers find the optimal license type and distribution strategy for such work, which includes open sourcing. The Office of Technology Commercialization also helps with finding commercialization partners, negotiating licenses, and supporting startups.

Texas Immersive Institute’s mission is to provide access to emerging technology and research and design experiences for artists, scientists, and humanists who use storytelling to share solutions to big problems that are responsive, responsible and remarkable.

Our goal is to imagine the unknown into existence through the practice of Immersive. We strive to ensure our community lives at the intersection of culture and commerce such that consumers can engage through a blend of physical, digital and voice environments with ease.

The Texas Innovation Center offers a personalized environment for faculty and students to explore entrepreneurship that includes educational workshops, speaker series, coaching sessions, and direct guidance for technology commercialization pathways; from ideation to market validation to fundraising. We accomplish this through Startup-In-A-Box Resources, TxIC Friends and Mentors Network, Innovation Lab, and co-working space. A place to inspire, create and commercialize.

Texas Inventionworks (TIW) supports physical prototypes from idea to first article for curriculum, competition teams, research, commercialization and student-led projects.  The staff can help with almost any physical product. Visitors learn to run machines and do the work using 3D printers, laser cutters, wood and metal working, electronics and wireless. It is open to engineering students and via qualified classes or projects for other students, faculty and staff. Please connect to learn more.
